“This is the textbook case of why TryMyCompany exists. The $19 cleaning is real, but it's the unlock fee for a roughly $59/mo, 6-month, ~$354-total membership that almost nobody realizes they're signing up for. As of mid-2026, Washington residents can cancel penalty-free mid-commitment following a state settlement; everywhere else the six-month lock-in still holds. The cleaners themselves are usually fine — the business model is the problem. We list this as a *warning trial*: if you book it, do it because you genuinely want six months of monthly cleanings at the member rate, not because you wanted a one-off $19 deep clean before your in-laws visit.”

“Unlimited car wash memberships are the sneakiest subscription category we cover — you sign up at the gate while a teenager runs your credit card, you forget you have it within six weeks, and a year later you've spent $360 on the four washes you actually used. Mister is the biggest national chain, which means you'll see promo offers more often than competitors, but it also means the auto-renew is industrial-strength. If you commute and your car needs weekly washing in winter or pollen season, the math works. If you "might use it sometimes," skip and pay per wash.”
