Premium-tier guarantee

The Promise.

If you're a Premium subscriber, you followed our cancellation guide, you have proof you cancelled before the deadline, and you stillgot charged - we'll credit you back.

Why we can offer this

We write the guides. When we say “cancel by going to Settings → Billing → Cancel,” we're asserting that path works. If you follow it correctly and still get charged, the failure is either ours (the guide was wrong) or the merchant's (they violated their own published flow). In either case, you got wronged - and that's exactly what TMC exists to fight for.

The Promise is funded by Premium subscriptions. Subscribers who might one day file a claim are the same people whose monthly $11.99 pays the claims. It's structurally aligned by design.

Coverage

You're covered when

  • You're a Premium member - active when the trial started and when the charge posted.

  • The trial shows the “Covered by The Promise” badge on its page. Nearly all of our catalog does.

  • You tracked the trial in your TMC dashboard before the charge.

  • You followed our published cancellation guide and cancelled at least 24 hours before the merchant's deadline.

  • You can show it: a cancellation confirmation (screenshot or email) plus the charge on your statement.

If a claim doesn't qualify, we'll tell you exactly why, in writing - and help you pursue the refund from the merchant directly. That guidance is part of the value too.

The fine print

  • The Promise covers catalog trials that display the Covered badge. Trials added manually from outside the catalog, and the few trials we flag with warnings, aren't covered.

  • Coverage applies to the next billing cycle of the same product. Upgrades you chose, separate purchases, and fees disclosed in the merchant's own terms sit between you and the merchant.

  • Re-subscribing or re-authorizing a merchant after cancelling starts a new billing relationship, outside the original claim.

  • If your bank's chargeback window is still open, we'll ask you to use it first - the Promise covers the gap if the chargeback doesn't succeed.

  • USD charges only for now, and claims apply to your own account rather than one shared with someone else.

How to file a claim

  1. 01

Open the trial in your TMC dashboard - there's a File a Promise claim button on every tracked trial.

  2. 02

Upload your cancellation confirmation (screenshot or email) and the bank statement excerpt showing the charge.

  3. 03

Pick your payout form (refund / credit / virtual card). We review within 14 days. Approved claims pay within 7 days of approval.

The whole submission takes a prepared user 3-5 minutes.

Every claim gets an answer

Every claim gets a written decision - approved or not, you'll know exactly why. We'd rather make every approval generous than hide behind fine print.

And when a claim doesn't qualify, we don't just say no. You'll get concrete language for getting the merchant to refund you directly, or chargeback guidance when that's the better path. The Promise is a customer-success product as much as a financial one.
