Our take
We include Vivint specifically as a *don't-get-trapped* entry. The salesperson at your door will say "try it for 3 days," and that is technically true, but if you're not ready to call within 72 hours of installation you've just signed up for a 60-month $7,000 commitment. The system itself is good — pro-installed gear, real central monitoring — but the financing terms make this the most expensive "trial" in this entire category. If you want monitored security, take SimpliSafe's 30-day trial instead and walk away if you don't love it.

“This is the textbook case of why TryMyCompany exists. The $19 cleaning is real, but it's the unlock fee for a roughly $59/mo, 6-month, ~$354-total membership that almost nobody realizes they're signing up for. As of mid-2026, Washington residents can cancel penalty-free mid-commitment following a state settlement; everywhere else the six-month lock-in still holds. The cleaners themselves are usually fine — the business model is the problem. We list this as a *warning trial*: if you book it, do it because you genuinely want six months of monthly cleanings at the member rate, not because you wanted a one-off $19 deep clean before your in-laws visit.”
